Hope you enjoy and find useful this information related to global parts supply for the Automotive Industry. This is an extract from Crain Communications issue “Top 100 global OEM parts suppliers […] 2014”

Although I work mainly for the Automotive Industry at a global level, it always strikes me how much of the global overview we are missing if we don’t get our eyes on such articles. It’s just difficult to keep up with the pace, I guess. If you are like me, here it is: The latest trend by all means is whatever goes into “autonomous cars” :-)

Here are some extracts from the intro article from David Sedgwick:

Toyota Motor Corp. will offer driver assistance on all models by late 2016

Some buzz words you can find on the intro article :

  • collision-avoidance technology
  • driver assistance
  • [autonomous] emergency stop
  • safety functions
  • lidar laser sensor

The auto industry’s mega-suppliers have taken notice. Six of the world’s 10 largest suppliers — Bosch, Magna, Continental, Denso, Hyundai Mobis and ZF — have muscled into the segment

During a May 20 press briefing in Germany, Bosch said its overall sales of driver-assistance components are rising by onethird annually

To keep up, Bosch has assigned 2,000 engineers to develop this technology — 700 more than it had two years ago. Just a few mega-suppliers have the deep pockets to match that kind of investment. And some of them are stepping up.
